LESLIE approaches ... better safe than sorry!

It's been only a few hours since I posted the last blog having made reference to Tropical Storm Leslie ...

My good friend Gareth called a short while ago to say that they had been warned that Leslie could 'spring a surprise' and that we should head back to our dock for preparation.

Of course this is rather disappointing as we were just settling in here at Peter Island again ... I am relaxing and writing this post, whilst Ana is scrubbing down decks and polishing the gel coat ;)

Unfortunately I seem to have 'pulled' a muscle in my back and having suffered from a slipped disc a number of years ago, I don't want to be repeating that cycle again!

Anyway ... back to Leslie ... it seems Leslie will develop into a hurricane later today or tomorrow morning ...

We are steadily learning about storms in this region at this time of year ... needs to be taken seriously and our hope is that Leslie will stick to the computer simulated route thereby giving the BVI's a miss to the north. I must admit though, that looking at the area Leslie occupies it is better to be safe than sorry and I would not be surprised if, as in the case of Isaac, we get to feel it's presence by the 'backwash' as it passes!

Will keep you posted!

  1. Thanks Tate, i am sure it will zoom off to the north but some friends we have that have sailed here for years were not happy that we had not 'run for the dock' ... I figure they are more knowledgeable than we are about these regions, so rather be safe than sorry. I see that you guys got it really tough man! Would have hated to be in your shoes with all that water! Thanks for keeping us posted ... you have a great blog!
